The Rayvolt Beachin ‘brings oversized Californian style to the world of e-bikes – CleanTechnica Review

We first came across Rayvolt Beachin while visiting its headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. There we learned about the impressive selection of stylish electric bicycles from founder Mat Rauzier and his vision for the future of electrified mobility. His unique old-school and new-school design sense carries on classic motorcycle styling and combines it with state-of-the-art electric bike components for a completely unique experience.

When we got home Rayvolt sent a beachin ‘across the pond in Laguna Blue to let it run around the beaches here in Southern California, and boy, does it turn heads. From the cloud-like 26 ″ x 4 ″ natural rubber tires to the oversized aluminum beach cruiser frame to the removable battery in luggage style, the Beachin ‘is dressed on the nines.

Rayvolt equipped the Beachin ‘with a 750 watt Bafang motor in the rear hub, which is powered by a 10.5 Ah battery that is neatly stuck in the frame. To keep the oversized beach cruiser look, they couldn’t just screw a battery onto the frame. Instead, designer Mat Rauzier decided to hide the battery in beautiful packaging that looks more like a small piece of luggage or a handbag than a battery. It’s an innovative take on the overall aesthetic of the e-bike, which is just one of the many ways this bike stands out from the crowd of e-bikes.

A comfortable vegan leather saddle is probably the most comfortable saddle we’ve seen on a factory bike. The wide Rayvolt brand saddle offers a lounge-like cushion without hindering the ability to pedal comfortably. With a frame this big, I was concerned that the bike might only be banned for taller riders, but both my 5’5 “wife and I, at 6’2, are both able to do it comfortably with just one Setting the. to drive seat height.

At the front of the bike, a brilliantly polished aluminum handlebar arches over the front of the bike, which at the same time defines a safe space for the rider and provides comfortable control over the entire process. The bar is capped at both ends by two metal-flanked leather handles that perfectly match the seat material. On the left, a small and simple LCD display has all the e-bike controls at hand without overloading the experience.

When beachin ‘, the frame disappears from view and the comfortable saddle welcomes you in a relaxed position on the bike. The curved handlebars come back to greet you and require little effort or change of position to steer. Simply select the level of pedal assistance and off you go into the race.

The powerful 750 watt Bafang motor provides speed boosts as the pedals start moving, making pedaling almost an optional activity. On the right side of the handlebars, a Shimano gear lever offers the option of shifting through the 7 mechanical gears of the bike if desired.

As a beach cruiser, the Beachin ‘was built for cruising. Whether you are rolling through the city center, the beach promenade or the park, flip-flops and sunshine are guaranteed on this cruiser. The metal fenders and chain guard keep you clean and dry of road debris, although the form-fitting metal fenders seemed to require regular adjustments.

Beachin ‘opened up to longer stretches of road and, surprisingly, was also at home. It’s not designed to be in a hurry, although it can reach a top speed of 20 mph. Just sit back and relax, just don’t forget that the integrated 10.4 Ah battery has a range of 40 km per charge. This is a fair rating at lower pedal assistance levels. Just don’t expect to see so many miles when you are constantly relying on the battery for assistance.

The battery itself comes in beautiful packaging that is also functional. A quick turn of the lock that secures it to the frame and the entire battery can be lifted off the bike for easy charging wherever your life takes you. We loved the ability to park the bike in the garage and unplug the battery to recharge around the house. The stylish design means that instead of carrying a lump of plastic around with you, you have a nice looking, well-designed wallet.

Rayvolt Beachin' E-Bike

Overall, the Beachin ‘is a statement bike that attracts attention everywhere. It’s larger than life, and thanks to the oversized wheels, it offers unparalleled comfort wherever your adventures take you. Don’t expect this bike to be a fantastic commuter, but it will do the job if it gets the job done. Don’t try to hammer a square pin into a round hole, you know what I mean?
